| Update from Canada (July 2004) | |||
![]() OK...... hold your hands up and admit it..... who thinks this is a typical image from Canada???? That it is freezing cold and under snow all year around??? Come one..... be honest..... well that's not quite true..... ok... so here there is snow.... it is
July... it is in British Columbia but there is a reason... it's at the top
of Blackcomb Mountain (here and Whistler host the 2010 Winter Olympics) with
a glacier just behind the shot and a bit of digital editing to remove the
grass from behind me!!!! He he.. had to do it for fun.... so in truth this is more like it..... to the right is English Bay in Vancouver.. yes a beach, by the coast, in summer, very hot!!!! Great fun. In fact... i've had better weather here than in bloody Fiji and it rains a hell of a lot less as well!!! So what have we been doing.... well of course drinking a lot of beer and it is good beer..... got my full approval better than the New Zealand crap (apart from Steinlager) definitely up there with the best. Watching softball and drinking beer each week - now I even understand how
the game is played and it's great fun... real social laugh!!! Got to watch
the Team Canada Fast Pitch Softball Team (womens) play....... wouldn't want
to get hit by the ball for sure... not quite as fast as Brett Lee
Checking out lots of towns like Whistler, Pemberton, Vernon, Silver Star, Kamloops, Kelowna (to the left) and of course Vancouver just getting a feel for the province..... and I like it... a lot. Some of the mountain views are fantastic, so many trees, lakes, wild animals (unlike Australia the dangerous ones here are bigger than you so you can see them easy!!) and the people are just like the Ozzies - laid back, friendly and like a beer or ten!!!
Even just hanging about, shopping (really cheap here same in dollars as would be in pounds - then divide the price by 2.4)..... Eating out, camping, visiting the sights, hanging upside down on big zip wires (flying fox or death slide depending where you come from) it's all good stuff. Seen a couple of mounties (just for tourism now), wild deer just walking around eating, grizzly bears, wolves, eagles and hawks.
So if you get the chance come over and have a look..... One of my ozzie mates - Snowy and his girlfriend Karen have just made the trip across Canada.... that's a hell of a long road trip.. it takes like 7 hours or so to fly the distance... almost like flying from Manchester to Vancouver or from Sydney to Perth..... Anyhow... i'm off to grab some food as a little bit peckish. Hope you enjoyed it so far... plenty of photos if you want to see more. See ya!!
